Steele's Poor Paw

We don't know how it happened but Steele just started holding up his right front paw and refusing to walk on it -- pretty painful for sure! So we took him to the hospital and they found that somehow he had ripped off half his front pad. OUCH!! They were not sure if the VERY hot pavement caused it to stick and rip, or if he had a thorn stuck inside the pad that caused an infection that abcessed part of the pad out, or if he had slipped and caught and tore it on a nail or rough piece of wood or something. HOWEVER what happened is that he ended up with a very sore and yuckky paw. He went on antibiotics and foot soaks and had to wear a sock on his foot. He had to go to daycare to distract him and I did not want him alone anyway. He has done really well. Almost healed. Meanwhile little Miss Cinnabun has a sore on her neck the vet says is common for female rabbits. She has overcleaned a spot on her neck and caused a sore. She is on antibiotic shots every other day, wound cleaning and dressing and oral medications. She is also getting better but she will have to be spayed. Who knew that unspayed female rabbits over clean themselves in a sort of obsessed way? Learn something knew everyday! Thank heaven all the animals have great vets and owners that care about giving them great care!

PS: Steele is doing great now and his paw is pretty well healed! Ditto for Cinnabun's neck. YEAH!
